Preparing for Grade 12 IBDP Board Examinations at a Residential School

It’s our last few weeks at school, with the Graduation Ceremony and continuous academic preparations we feel all set and geared up for the #IBDP2 Final Exams. Having returned from home after a two weeks break; at a casual chat post dinner, we pondered over how different life would be, had we been home preparing for our #IBDP22018Exams at a day school. This conversation left us mesmerized to appreciate the blessings of studying at a residential school.

Being home was really exciting but we missed being at school, all at the same time! Life at The Cathedral Vidya School is so organized and distractions close to none.  Even the tummy knows that it’s time to rumble with hunger for the delicious meals served at school.

It feels so good that everything is taken care of and at an arms stretch.

We needn’t scramble for help be it with the configuration or any technical assistance with our laptops or the minutest academic query. A friend, a teacher or just someone is around to not only assist but solve the papers with us. Sometimes, it’s this experience that helps retain the topic we weren’t able to comprehend. Everything’s pre planned and monitored so well by our faculty and mentors, throughout the course that the pressure of the final exams are more of a responsible approach than a pressurized one.

The parental pressure was so much more of a conversation there, back home, rather than a part of our preparation and a self - realization here, at school. Mummy’s home-made meals helped overcome all that….of course!

A comfortable and stable approach towards academics, being one of the many important parts of life at school; is such a good feeling. We enjoy our time playing football and basketball in the evenings, or just going for a swim. There is a time for everything in a steady routine.

This confident emotion is an empowering consolation and the secret to a positive approach to our academics and personality development.

Most of us have experienced day schools and life at home, living with our families, prior to our experiences at a best boarding schools Mumbai. The confidence with which we present our extended essays or TOK makes us feel good about ourselves. There are no limitations to our thoughts and ideas here, both the opportunities and the freedom to express ourselves in core and co-curricular activities make us feel confident and groomed enough, preparing us for our lives ahead. We can make friends and get along with just about everyone, around us.

We can comfortably share our visions and dreams with our mentors and friends. There is always someone to speak to, around us, depression is a word that may be doesn’t exist in a residential school.

Our thoughts, behavior and communications are channelized so fluently, that life is flowing in and out day after day. The natural serenity and peaceful campus is indeed a privilege to live in.

While we were home, we missed the serenity amidst the constant sound of the vehicles and the buzzing of the city. There was a kind of lethargic feeling at times, which made us feel as though what next. The routine is automated and we are so mentally prepared for what’s next. We were studying, but the distractions were way too many and it didn’t feel up to the mark despite the standard study routine.

It felt so warm to be with our families but then it was so natural to just turn around and call out our friend’s name only to realize, ‘O! He / she too is home!’

The ambience at our best ib boarding schools in Maharashtra is so serene and this tranquility itself is enough motivation, keeping us active and invigorated at all times. We feel like it is the exam we want to write; we are looking forward to it with our ‘Best foot’or ‘Best Pen’ forward!!
