Presenting a poem which reflects the way oil affects water and the plants and animals that live in watery habitats like ponds, lakes, rivers, streams and other wetland areas. On the coast of a city, there was a rig. On the coast of the city they used to dig. Black rich oil turned in for gold, The workers never frowned; their souls been sold. Then one day an idiot, he truly was a twat. An ignorant one he was; pulled a lighter from his hat. As Murphy had said, a fire began, The oil rig went boom; it went out with a bam. Gallons of gold, black as the devil, Fell straight into the sea, like Satan’s herald. Next began the slaughter, the oil versus the fish, Within years it ended, the fishes had too many unfulfilled wishes. Then the devilish invader changed sights, And with that man was forced to fight. They brought in their newest weapons, Detergents were like nuclear deterrents. The oil had been finally defeated, But the fallout was deep seated...
