SPANDAN 2018: SWIMMING

“For myself, losing is not coming second. It’s getting out of the water knowing you could have done better. For myself, I have won every race I’ve been in.” – Ian Thorpe

The schools participating were Cathedral Vidya School, Kohinoor American School, Euro School Wakad ,B.D. Sonami ,B.K. Birla and Universal World College. The style for the day was freestyle.

Moon lead the match and took over. The public screamed “Moon! Moon!” and their screams were justified, as Moon from CVSL, the best boarding school near Navi Mumbai won the first heat.

The second heat left everyone confused, as to who would win. Everyone had very high hopes from their swimmers, but Oberoi International School took the lead and showed us what they’ve got in the second heat.

Both the heats showed clear winners with no-one else taking over in between but the third heat seemed very tough. Everyone began with the same speed but then beating the tough competition came CVSL’s own swimmer Aradhya, who won.

After the boys showed us their aqua magic, it was time for the girls to make the water hotter with their first heat. The first heat started and ended with a clear win of United World College.

The tension seemed to rise for the second heat. The heat started with a tough competition, raising the curiosity of the crowd. On the way back it seemed clear as to who would win. It was undoubtedly B.D. Somani.

It was a tough competition between the swimmers. The 50 meters victory wasn’t enough for Oberoi International School Goregaon and then they won the 100 meters too.
The second round became tougher, when CVSL, boarding school in Mumbai took the lead, but the tables were turned after 50 metres into the competition, UWC’s victory became clearly visible.

They all started like a bullet shot from the gun. Leaving everybody far behind, B.D. Somani was leading again. It seemed as if their thirst for winning wasn’t quenched by the 50 meter victory. The swimmer from B.D Somani won yet again.
It seemed as if she was made for the waters!
